The design of two pieces of metal that have sharpened edges and are bolted in a way so that slide against each other for cutting is what we call scissors. Scissors can be used to cut all sorts of thin objects like paper and fabric but the ones we are concerned with is hair cutting scissors.

The types of scissors we are talking about are called shears, the distinction being that shears are generally bigger than scissors. The history of scissor use was first recorded during ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian times. In those days they basically took a flat piece of metal sharpened it and then bent it so that it would have a spring action when used.

Because it was a made from one bent piece of metal it had a spring action quality to it. So when you used them the metal would move back and forth because of this spring like quality. The modern scissors we know of today started in ancient Rome and china. But even though that was available the older spring model scissors were still in use up until the 16th century.

Sometimes shears are also called scissors or vice versa, but in actuality shears a generally bigger and sturdier than scissors. Hence they are used to cut stronger objects. Then there are the typed of sheers that are fixed on the table and operated by using a lever. The lever shears are of course used to cut much tougher materials.

As the hair styling industry took of many different styling tools were invented along the way. One of them that are quite popular nowadays is the thinning sheer. So-called because it is used for thinning thick hair after the main hair cut. It is basically a scissor with comb like blades so as to not to cut all of the hair by passing some of the hair through the gaps or teeth.

Learn more about Thinning Shears. Stop by Alexander Stone’s site where you can find out all about them and what they can do for you.

Women use flat irons so that they are able to to control their frizzy hair. ANybody who has naturally curly, frizzy hair understands that the minute the blow dryer touches our hair it starts to poof out.

While having the hair be curly is a nice look – sometimes it is quite tiresome. We need to be able to alter our appearance and to be much more sophisticated or edgy. That is what the flat iron allows for us. It utilizes intense heat and ceramic plates to straighten the frizz in the hair and to contain it the way we want it to look.

Most of us will purchase a plain iron at Wal-Mart or Target because they are cheap and they appear to get the job done – but are they the easiest for us? I have taken the liberty to compare two distinct ceramic flat irons by two contrasting makers. One was a basic type that you have the ability to buy anywhere for $20. The other was a professional that you had to get at a salon for $200.

One of the strongest deviations I recognized off the bat was the quality of the two models. The professional model was apparently of higher quality. It was standard likened to the cheaper model – which has boasted to do much more then straighten the hair.

But the trustworthy test came down to how well each of them worked. I have some of the most difficult hair you can have and I call for something that is able to extremely hot. Though this can be tough for the hair it is the only thing that straightens it without creating crimps and waves. The pro ceramic flat iron was the much better option because it was able to get warm and protect my hair.

If your hair is frizzy, you’re probably tired of it. Most people want their hair to lie down and behave, and it often doesn’t want to do that. They try straighteners and they put all of their effort into hair gels and other things that are only temporary fixes. They use a lot of hair spray and they try various products that are designed to reduce frizz. Some of them work pretty well, but a lot of people use straightening irons or go to their beauty salon and have their hair professionally straightened. For people who don’t want to use beauty shop-strength chemicals or who don’t have the time each day to use a straightening iron or flat iron on their hair, there are other chemicals which can be good options. There are others who find that nothing works for them, and much of that can be from split ends and other hair problems that not everyone realizes that they have. If you’ve let your hair grow very long but you haven’t been getting it trimmed like you should you might end up with a lot of split ends – and that can give your hair that frizzy look that you’re trying to avoid.

To tame your frizz when it comes from split ends, you’ll probably have to get your hair cut – and maybe not just trimmed. If it’s been a very long time since you’ve had it cut or trimmed at all, those split ends might not just be on the end. They can go up quite far, and people with long, waist-length hair have ended up with hair cut up above their collar because they didn’t get regular trims as they were letting it grow out. For someone who likes her (or his) hair long, that can be very traumatic and upsetting. In order to avoid that kind of problem the best thing to do is get regular haircuts, even if you’re letting your hair grow out. The stylist doesn’t have to take much off, and it will help to reduce split ends and other problems that can occur. Also, if you start to develop any problems with the condition of your hair or scalp your stylist can recommend products that will be helpful to you so that you can get an issue like that cleared up early.

No matter what you decide is best for you, there are ways that you can tame down that frizz and feel better about your appearance. Some of these are easier and cheaper than others, but a lot of good options are out there. Sometimes you have to go out and find them, and sometimes they’ll come to you, but either way they exist. When you’re tired of the frizz and you want to stop it or reduce it, investigate the options that you have and the products that you can use, and you’ll find the right thing for you. Once you find it, you can keep using it and you won’t have to continue hunting around for other alternatives.
